The Big Island of Hawaii is one of the most fascinatingly surreal places on Earth. And whether golf is your passion, or any number of other activities, it offers big time excitement.

Nothing is more exciting than the extraordinary golf options delivered by our HawaiiGolfDeals GOLF HAWAII CARD courses on the Big Island. If there was ever a perfect 'golf-around,' this is it. And if an island exists anywhere in the world where there are more value-driven choices of courses on which to strike the dimpled sphere, we would like to know?

KOHALA COAST
Beginning with the 'mother-of-all Kona-Kohala Coast resorts,' the MAUNA KEA RESORT, HawaiiGolfDeals' Big Island Golf Trail is off to a rousing start. In addition to the classic Robert Trent Jones Sr. Mauna Kea Golf Course's oceanfront layout (currently closed and undergoing a major renovation), the Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay-designed Hapuna Golf Course spiritually winds through the bluffs above the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. These two Big Island resort courses share a desirable location, quality conditioning and sunny, warm weather. But they are quite different to play. Hapuna requires accurate tee shots and Mauna Kea demands exacting approach shots.

WAIKOLOA BEACH RESORT sports two fine layouts—The Waikoloa Beach Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and The Waikoloa Kings' Golf Course, designed by the team of Tom Weiskopf & Jay Morrish. Each is distinctly different and provide a host of memorable golf moments from the Beach Course's lusty 12th Green, surrounded by ocean, to the Kings' Course's signature and idiosyncratic short par-4s at 5 and 13.

Just 20 minutes above Mauna Kea Resort in the town of Kamuela-Waimea (they like their twond so much on The Big Island, they give them two names) is the delightfully refreshing 18 holes of the always well-conditioned Waimea Country Club. With stands of eucalyptus and a unique microclimate, its links-style front nine is followed by a shotmakers back nine. In addition to the inexpensive tariff, the Bentgrass greens are sensational.

KAILUA-KONA
Driving The Big Golf Trail about 35 miles from Waimea to Kailua-Kona on Hwy. 190, high-above the Kona-Kohala Coast, Makalei Golf Club rears its lovely head about five miles short of Kona. Fabulous new Bentgrass greens and glorious game birds galore dominate this intensely challenging layout by Dick Nugent. It is truly a one-of-a-kind golf course and a tremendous value.

Just south of Kailua-Kona is Keauhou Bay and the two courses that comprise the KONA COUNTRY CLUB. Our favorite is the Kona CC Mountain Course, which appears to be suspended over lovely Keauhou Bay. Its ample collection of well-maintained legging holes, with extraordinary views from a variety of elevations, stimulates every golfer. The Kona CC Ocean Course plays like a mostly level resort course, winding gracefully along the scenic blue Pacific and through the condo communities of Keauhou Bay.

VOLCANO
For those who venture up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, an idyllic golf experience awaits at Volcano Golf & Country Club at the end of The Trail. At 4,200-ft. above sea level, this is the highest elevation of any golf course in Hawaii. The original nine dates back to 1926, making it the oldest course on The Big Island. Its 17th Hole is one of Hawaii's best par-5s.

With nine exceptional and diverse layouts, all of which offer truly exciting golf experiences and a great value to boot, is it any wonder that the Big Island has become the choice for thousands of GOLF HAWAII CARD holders?

If you haven't played the Big Island, you are missing perhaps the most memorable golf vacation of your life. And if you have been there before, now is the best time to return and sample its incredible variety and value.
