CC’s Mountain Course delivers a splendid
layout from breathtaking hillsides overlooking
Keauhou Bay. Most regulars will tell you that
this course is the one to play in spite of the
fact that the Ocean Course is an oceanfront layout.
With a host of elevation changes, dynamic legging
holes and, arguably, the best five consecutive
holes in Hawaii (13-17), we certainly agree. The
front nine, which opened in 1985, has three holes
of each par variety. It also has one of Hawaii’s
most memorable holes, the 438-yard, 1-handicap
7th Hole, where only a long tee shot offers a
safe water-carry approach to a narrow green. Challenging
and invigorating best describe the Mountain Course.
