The Ocean Golf Course
at Kona Country Club
Kona Country Club’s Ocean Course flourishes
along the shores of Keauhou Bay about seven miles
south of Kona. A number of improvements to the
original William Francis Bell design were addressed
from 1999-2002, specifically for an LPGA event
in 2000 and 2001. The renovations added much to
the character and flavor of the layout. Improved
tee boxes and some clever use of the oceanfront
terrain now make the course more visually appealing
and enhance shot values. Picturesque ocean holes
are found at the 3rd Tee, where the Pacific crashes
in on the entire right side of the 217-yard par-3,
and at Holes 11-13. Good scores are achieved by
making the most of generous landing areas and
level, readable greens.
