Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the original Waikoloa Beach Golf Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf serves up a diverse 18 golf holes in and around ancient lava flows. Now subdivided into the Beach Nine and Lakes Nine, the overall course still features 75 bunkers, surprising elevation changes, four small lakes and one of Hawaii's premiere oceanfront holes at the splendid signature 6th Hole of the Beach Nine. There, you'll find an artful par-5, which legs sharply left off the tee shot and then moves gently right along the spectacularly rugged jet black lava coastline, with the ultra blue Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. From tee to green, this classic Hawaii golf hole screams "photo break."

Crafty holes appear throughout the senior of the two original Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf layouts, with many others quite memorable. Noteworthy are Beach 3, 6, 8-and-Lakes 2, 3, 8.

In 2009, the course was transformed from its original layout, so it could utilize the more impressive and efficient Kings' Clubhouse that had previously only serviced the Waikoloa Kings' Golf Course. The resulting redistribution and renumbering of the holes was quite successful in terms of consolidating the overall golf operation. In late 2021, yet another redistribution of the golf holes and nines has created the Big Island's only 27-hole layout.

The Beach & Lakes Nines meander through and around Hawaii's second largest petroglyph (rock carvings) field, ancient burial grounds and the remains of an ancient fishing village. No doubt, the Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf will fulfill every golfer's Big Island golf fantasy, and then some.
